Mechanic
FLSA: Non-Exempt from Overtime
General Summary: Under the supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor and Maintenance Foreman. Performs Maintenance Department activities, including the maintenance and repair of vehicles and auxiliary equipment.
Principle Duties
- Repairs and overhauls major chassis units such as motors, transmissions, clutches, differentials, and brake systems.
- Installs and repairs air compressors and air-conditioning units.
- Installs and repairs safety devices and equipment.
- Performs or assigns welding tasks.
- Performs preventative maintenance on all vehicles.
- Performs the repair on diesel engines.
- Installs and repairs entire hydraulic and electrical systems.
- Performs other duties as required.
Reporting Relationships
Reports to the Maintenance Supervisor and Maintenance Foreman.
Knowledge/Education/Experience
- High school plus specialized training equivalent to no less than 2 years of college level courses or technical training in vehicle repair.
- Must possess skills to perform a wide variety of interrelated or nonstandard procedural assignments and resolve a wide range of problems requiring extended training.
- Must possess a valid Michigan Commercial Drivers License with appropriate endorsements as required by Federal/State regulations.
- Job requires no less than 2 years of previous job-related experience.
